Profile
ARTIST STATEMENTAnouk Mercier’s drawings rely heavily on the nostalgia of Romanticism, mythology and storytelling. Influenced by images from fashion magazines, Romantic landscapes and 18th century interior decoration, her drawings present the viewer with a theatricality that prompts the creation of narratives.
Combining dependence on Romantic ideology and contemporary imagery her work often presents the continuous search for escapism through the portrayal of the ideal.
